Do you love a vampire tale that swallows you whole and you disappear in it for days at a time? Then Vrolok is the book for you. I am not kidding – I disappeared for about 10 hours the day I began this review project… and completed the book the next morning. Already, this epic adventure has received raving reviews in the industry....Author Nolene-Patricia Dougan is one of the best writers I have had the pleasure to review. Her work artfully entwines hundreds of years of human history...Buy this book – I think you will love it!

VROLOK is an ambitious, wildly entertaining romp through history which manages to rewrite vampiric lore in the process...
Isabella, the story's vampire protagonist, is a wonderfully developed character, and, like some of her temporary companions, it's sometimes easy to forget that she is something far removed from a charming and beautiful young woman, but Isabella has a way of reminding us all of exactly who and what she is....Isabella, to put it lightly, is quite a woman.... there is a true abundance of riches worked into the plot of thisextraordinary novel. It's unlike any vampire story I've ever read, and that is why I found VROLOK to be such an immensely enjoyable, fascinating read.

Isabella’s encounters with Van Helsing are some of the best vampire interludes in recent years …Vampire fans will appreciate this different bite on the creatures of the night with a strong historical biographical perspective… Vlad and Isabella live the lives of immortals while those they encounter become footnotes in history.

Vrolok is a historical fiction with a dark edge; from the moment the book
opens you are hooked… Vrolok will appeal to those who love the dark gothic literature of the Bronte’s, as the lead character (Isabella) has Catherine Earnshaw’s (Wuthering Heights) rebellious nature tempered with Jane Erye’s
strength of will. Lovers of historical fiction will also find much to pique
their interest as major and minor historical figures are seamlessly interwoven
throughout the flowing narrative. Vrolok, is simply a must read for anyone
who enjoys flawless fiction with some of the best characters to be found
in any genre.
Mid-West Book Review
Based upon a poem anonymously published in 1906, Vrolok by Nolene-Patricia
Dougan is the original and engaging story of Isabella… Carrying readers through the gripping tale of Isabella's dark journey, Vrolok diligently depicts the intricate life of the immortal vampire including her inevitable nemesis. A superbly crafted and complex dark fantasy novel, Vrolok is very highly recommended as an evocative and captivating tale of the immortal race of the Vrolok…Vrolok
will leave her readers looking eagerly towards Nolene-Patricia Dougan's next
foray into dark fantasy.

Vrolok redefines the Vampire novel. It is as much historical fiction as it is vampire fiction.
Journey with Isabella as she meets a myriad of historical characters and re-writes history.

A Reader from Dublin
This book is amazing! The complexity of the characters, the plots and sub-plots are truly detailed and submerse you in the book completely… Isabella is the best written female character I’ve ever encountered. She is disarming, beguiling, strong, dependable and compassionate you fall in love with her character and are shocked when she reminds you that she is a killer and will kill again and again for her own ends.
